MILFORD – From Thai food platters to shaved ice, the New Hampshire Food Truck Festival offered up delicious dishes that appeal to most anyone’s palate.

However, if folks weren’t able to attend on Saturday, there’s another opportunity today to stop by the Hampshire Dome at 34 Emerson Road in Milford to indulge in a wide variety of foods prepared by a wide range of vendors. Some food trucks came up from Connecticut and Massachusetts to be a part of the inaugural New Hampshire Food Truck Festival, while the majority of vendors were from the Granite State.

“We have a wide variety, and we have anything from a full, 1-pound meatball to lobster rolls to Caribbean platters,” Veronica Parsloe, festival director, said.

Northeast Balloon Festival hosted the event, and there were 15 food vendors present Saturday, with 14 set to return for round two today. Aside from food trucks lining the perimeter of the backfield, in the middle, there were a range of different craft vendors from all over New England that attendees could check out in between having seconds, or even thirds with how many options were available. Ice cold beer, ciders and wine also were available for those of age to wash down all the food. Also, there was a kids’ zone set up for the little ones to have their faces painted or enjoy bouncing around in bounce houses.

“We might have some vendors who didn’t make it today, unfortunately in time for inspection, because there was a lot of traffic, but they probably will be coming tomorrow,” Parsloe said Saturday afternoon. “We’ll have the same craft vendors, we’ll still have ice cold beer, cider and wine, and we’ll have the tented seating in case of (bad) weather.”

She expects somewhere around 4,000 people to pass through the festival over the course of the two days it’s being put on.

“It’s free admission, so it’s a great community event, and we’re really looking forward to the balloon festival in a couple of weeks,” Parsloe said. “We expect to have a large turnout for the balloon

festival.”

For the balloon festival, she’s expecting upward of 30,000 people to come through the event over the course of Labor Day weekend. She said she expects about 10,000 people to stop by each day of the event, since they start early at 5 a.m. each day. The event will go until 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and will conclude Monday night slightly earlier, at 8 p.m. This event also will be taking over the entire venue at the Hampshire Dome. It will feature hot air balloon rides and activities, food truck and craft vendors, regional live music, amusement rides and different activities for the kids and more.

“The Hampshire Dome has been extremely supportive of all of the festivals we’ve been producing in New Hampshire at their facility,” Parsloe said. “They’ve been very accommodating and flexible, and just helping us to learn more about what we need to have to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone who comes.”

With this being the first year she’s put on the food truck festival, Parsloe said she’s trying to connect it with the balloon festival because some of the same vendors will be present for that, as well.

“We really just want to thank the Hampshire Dome for being so accommodating and for being so supportive of this festival, which we hope will become an annual event for the community to enjoy with their whole family and all their friends,” Parsloe said.
