Benefit concert slated for 7 p.m. on Dec. 8

MILFORD – The Murphy-Clark Band and the Stoller family will present a Christmas concert in the Congregational Church Parish House on Union Street on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Corey Frederick Stoller Memorial Scholarship.

The Murphy- Clark Band is a six-piece modern folk band based out of southern New Hampshire. that employs unusual instrumentation, including mandola, cajon, upright bass, mandolin, guitar and percussion. The concert will include a selection of both Christmas and original music.

The Corey Frederick Stoller Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 to honor the memory of Corey Stoller who passed away after a battle with bone cancer on June 12, 2003. He was a sophomore at the University of New Hampshire and an honors graduate of Milford High School.

Each year the scholarship trust’s board of directors reviews applications submitted by Milford seniors. The applicants must show strong academics, participation in extra-curricular activities, community service and answer the essay question; “How will the knowledge you have gained through academics and personal experience be applied to giving back to society?”

Currently there is one $1,500 scholarship awarded each year, with the amount and the number of scholarships subject to change as the trust grows. The memorial trust is held by the town of Milford.

The cost of admission will be a donation to the scholarship fund and can be in the form of cash or a check written to the “Corey Frederick Stoller Memorial Scholarship”, which is tax deductible.
