Milford Rotary Club Celebrates new members

The Milford Rotary Club is pleased to announce that David Hickman and Verna Ross-Hoyt of Milford, and Marc Lancaric of Wilton recently were inducted as new members of our volunteer-based service organization. Hickman is a first time Rotarian. Previously, Ross-Hoyt and Lancaric were members respectively of the Plymouth MA and Keene NH Rotary Clubs. As they say in Rotary’s international circles “Once a Rotarian, Always a Rotarian.”

Coming from the business worlds of real estate sales, employee staffing and insurance adjusting, these three new Milford Rotarians each bring their unique skills and talents to support Rotary’s community service and fundraising activities. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and that pledge is reflected in the volunteer work each member participates in on behalf of the club.

Along with its charitable giving and scholarship programs, the Milford Rotary Club is well known for two very unique events. The annual Milford Rotary Swim Meet, held at Keyes Memorial Park, is the oldest continuously running Rotary organized and sponsored swim meet in the nation. The Milford Rotary Club’s signature golf tournament, 100 Holes Of Golf In One Day, will be held for the 25th consecutive year on July 26th at the Amherst Country Club. This tournament with its associated raffle has raised over $1,200,000, all of which has been returned to our communities through the club’s community service, charitable giving and scholarship programs.

Next up for Milford Rotarians is the 41st annual Senior Citizens Chicken Barbeque. Coinciding with Older Americans Month, this barbeque honors our senior citizens by treating them to a free scrumptious luncheon featuring live entertainment and door prizes. The chicken barbeque will be held on Wednesday May 1st at 12 noon at the Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club gymnasium, 56 Mont Vernon Street, in Milford. This event is open to all area senior citizens and no reservations are required.

The Milford Rotary Club serves the communities of Amherst, Milford, Mont Vernon, and Wilton. As Club President Bob Moulton noted “We are very fortunate to have such a terrific group of dedicated Rotarians who volunteer their time and talents to serving our local and international communities.” For more information about the Milford Rotary Club or about joining this group of outstanding community leaders, please visit the club’s website at https://portal.clubrunner.ca/2944
