Science kits available at Wilton library

WILTON – Citizen Science Kits are now available at the Wilton Public-Gregg Free Library. The kits, procured through a grant, are a collaboration with the Conservation Commission and the Storm Water Management Team and include weather, birds, forests, geology, animal tracks, soil testing and binoculars.

Librarian Pat Fickett said a weather station with inside and outside monitors will be installed on the library grounds, with data available through the website. The initial weather class was held on Sept. 16 with Conservation Commission members. The birding kit was added to the library’s Story Circle activities on Sept. 16.

Through the collaboration, a Science Club was created, Fickett said. The Storm Water Management Team is planning classes for teens in water testing and the impact of weather on the watershed.

Water testing will be available in 2022 and will focus on Stoney Brook and the Souhegan River.
