October Adventure5k held at Liquid Planet Water Park

CANDIA – On Oct. 13, nearly 1,000 athletes will take on natural and man-made obstacles over the course of a 5K through the woods of New Hampshire, just outside of Manchester.

The new Adventure5k location will be Liquid Planet Water Park & Zip Lines, which offers significant land and areas for a variety of obstacles.

The first Adventure5k in April resulted in multiple requests for an additional 2012 run. More than 810 registered runners and more than 120 teams signed up. Runners from all skills levels participated and in the end, Christina Zlotnick, of Amherst, had the fastest time of 19 minutes, 24 seconds.

The team at NH.com is excited about the possibilities available at Liquid Planet Water Park.

"We’ve got a great course in the works for Liquid Planet," said Jon Nevins, one of the race organizers. "They have a ton of room for us to work with and we cannot wait to take advantage of some of the other things they have to offer."

NH.com is again partnering with the owners of CrossFit TUFF to mastermind the course and obstacles for the race. CrossFit TUFF is a 3,500-square-foot strength and conditioning facility in downtown Nashua.

Adventure5k organizers expect to see more than 1,000 runners and more than 2,400 spectators on race day. Wave-times fill up quickly and the price is $49 through July 4.

Up-to-date information on the race, giveaways and contests can be found on Facebook at facebook.com/Adventure5K.

The website, http://www.nh.com/5k, includes tips on what runners should bring and wear, as well as answers to other frequently asked questions. There will be an early bib pickup party planned for the evening before the event at Liquid Planet Water Park and Zip Lines. More details will be released as available. Spectators are allowed to walk the areas near the course during the race for photo opportunities with a signed waiver and fee of $3 for adults and $1 for children accompanied by an adult.

NH.com will again fundraise for MooreMart, a Nashua-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing comfort to the troops abroad, and New Hampshire Food Bank. Adventure5k also will be collecting sneakers for GreenSneakers, an organization that offers collected sneakers as affordable footwear to people in need around the world while offering an environmentally friendly fundraising opportunity. Proceeds from GreenSneakers will go to MooreMart and the New Hampshire Food Bank.
