Troop 260 attends Zombieland Camporee

BROOKLINE – The Boy Scouts of Troop 260 recently went to the
Zombieland Camporee on May 4-6 at Alvirne, hosted by the Arrowhead District.

Camporees are friendly competitions held every year between patrols from nearby towns. This fantastic event was put together by Mr. Dibble, a Scout leader in his own troop. Among all of the activities, a few stood out to the boys – throwing tomahawks, shooting paintballs, hitting “zombie heads” with a crowbar and even creating shelters.

From Troop 260, there were two patrols that competed – the Scorpions (led by Robert Hultz) and the Copyright Patrol (led by Patrick Whelan). Both patrols did outstanding jobs throughout the day and everyone had fun. However, the Scorpions particularly excelled at two stations, winning first place at the tomahawk station and winning third place at the crowbar station. After patrols had finished all the stations, they went to their campsites and participated in a vegetarian dinner contest.

The Scouts of Troop 260 would like to congratulate all of the patrols for being excellent competitors and also would like to thank everyone who helped plan the fantastic event.

Also for the month of May, Troop 260 celebrated an Eagle Court of Honor for Matt Spokane. The Eagle Rank is the highest rank that a Scout can earn as a Boy Scout. Troop 260 is very proud of Matt’s special achievement.

Just recently, Troop 260 went hiking on Mt. Hale in Bethlehem, in the White Mountains. The entire trip was just shy of 12 miles, with Mt. Hale being 4,054 feet in elevation.

Troop 260 would like to thank Captain Samuel Douglass Academy for inviting troop officials Christian Santoski, Robert Hultz, Devon Coffey, Nick Napior, Andrew Bisbee and ASM Mr. Gath to perform the flag ceremony for the Memorial Day Service held May 25.

Troop 260 also participated in Memorial Day events in Brookline and Hollis.
