Science careers highlighted for girls at program

A partnership between Public Service of New Hampshire and Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains will give girls an opportunity to see if they would like to consider careers in environmental science, engineering, mathematics or physics when they grow up.

“Energy Everywhere” is a free program for girls who have completed grades 4-8, and will be July 16-18.

Girls will explore how science, technology, engineering and math are connected to energy everywhere.

The three-day program includes swimming and a field trip to PSNH Energy Park in Manchester. Nashua location to be determined.

All girls are invited. Those who aren’t yet Girl Scouts can register for $12.

The programs will be run by staff and trained and dedicated volunteers, including volunteers from PSNH and experts in engineering, science and technology, to help girls learn how math and science are used in everyday life and work.

PSNH is New Hampshire’s largest electric utility, generating and distributing clean electricity for more than 500,000 homes and businesses in an environmentally friendly manner.

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains serves 15,600 girls across New Hampshire and Vermont, by 5,300 trained and dedicated volunteers. Call 1-888 474-9686 to register or to volunteer, or see www.girlscoutsgwm.org.
