First Fall Food & Wine Festival proves to be a hit

AMHERST – More than 400 people sampled wines, artisan cheeses, chocolates and other specialty foods at The Cabinet’s first Fall Food & Wine Festival at LaBelle Winery on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Vendors gave out small portions of hot fudge, mustards, olive oils, vinegars, crackers, jellies, coffee, ice cream and maple syrups.

But the stars of the show were the wines and spirits from 15 distributors who poured continuously
during the two two-hour sessions Sunday afternoon.

Among the happy wine tasters at the first session was Carrey Trumbull, of Malden, Mass., who said the favorite among her tastings was a California zinfindel from Dunn Wine Brokers of Manchester. In all, 425 people attended the two sessions.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Front Door Agency, a nonprofit that helps women and children with transitional housing and overall self-sufficiency.

LaBelle Winery was the sponsor and host, and The Cabinet also partnered with Cava deVino, of Nashua, for the event.
