THANK YOU, MERRIMACK! We had a record turnout of attendees at the Friends of the Merrimack Public Library’s seventh annual Turkey Shoot: Night of Raffles and Fun, on Friday, Nov. 18 at Wasserman Park.

Over 170 folks packed our new venue – the function hall at Wasserman Park – to listen to live music from local rockabilly band, Roll the Dice, purchase wine or beer from our local bartenders, In the Mix, and bid on gift certificates and gift baskets. We raffled off over 200 items in our ever-popular turkey dinner raffle, which included pies, candy, cider, a bag of vegetables and a frozen turkey. We couldn’t hold this event without the help of many volunteers and our colleagues in other town departments, including Matt Casparius, the director of Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department, the Merrimack Youth Association, the Merrimack Police Department and the Merrimack Department of Public Works, who helped with make sure everything ran smoothly at Wasserman, including parking, lighting and all of our facility needs.

We are still finalizing our profit/loss numbers but early estimates show that this event raised over $3,000 which will be used to develop an outdoor seating area at the library for our community to enjoy.

This year, thanks to the generosity of our donors, every item in the turkey dinner raffle was underwritten. We are particularly grateful to Thomas A. Warguska DDS, who was our "Founder of the Feast" with a donation of $750, and to these individuals and local businesses who donated funds, certificates or baskets.
