Robert W. Carleton

Robert W. Carleton, 85, resident of Greenfield, NH, died February 2, 2011 at Crestwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Milford.

He was born in Milford on March 2, 1925, a son of Oliver and Mary (Wheeler) Carleton. He received his War Diploma from Milford High School, Class of 1943.

Mr. Carleton resided in Greenfield for several years and formerly lived in Clarksville, NH for 31 years.

He had been employed by Ethan Allen Furniture Company for many years.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In addition, he liked working on crossword puzzles, dancing, was an avid New York Yankees fan and Duke University Basketball fan.

Mr. Carleton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged on December 20, 1945, with the rank of Sergeant.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Wheeler) Carleton, who died November 13, 2010.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Joleen Carleton of Milford, NH; a sister, Alice Holt of Wilton, NH; four stepchildren, Sandra Gendron of Milford, Cindy Broderick of Wilton, NH, Scott Caswell of Hancock, NH and Tim Caswell of Greenfield, NH; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 13th at 2:00 pm in the Carter Memorial Hall at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, 1 Verney Drive, Greenfield, NH.
