Virginia ‘Ginny’ (Rossi) Gill

Gill, Virginia “Ginny” (Rossi), loving wife and mother, passed away on January 28, 2011, at Wayside Hospice in Wayland, MA.

Born in Nashua, NH on November 1, 1920, Ginny was the daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Gallagher) Rossi. She lived in Amherst, NH, Yuma, AZ, Amherst, MA, and most recently at Orchard Hill in Sudbury, MA. Ginny earned her nursing degree from the Massachusetts General School of Nursing. She took great pride and satisfaction in her work. During her career, she served as Charge Nurse at McLean Hospital in Waverly, MA. She later worked as school nurse for Milford Public Schools, Head Start and for the Visiting Nurse Association, all in New Hampshire. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, reading, braiding rugs, and being with her family. Ginny was an avid knitter and loved making gifts for others.

Ginny was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Gill; two sisters Claire Bellew and Agnes Conrad, her brother Ernest Rossi Jr. and her son, Peter J. Gill.

Ginny is survived by her sister, Rita Young, of Walpole, MA; two daughters, Sue Regnier and her husband, Roger, of Wellesley, MA, and Penny Gill and her partner, Carolyn Sailer, of Leeds, MA. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Gill of Farmington, CT. She will be missed by her grandchildren Christian Regnier and his wife Anne, Carly Harnapp and her husband, Verek, Graham Gill and his wife Amanda, Gabriel Gill, Sophia Gill and five great-grandchildren, Olivia and Harper Gill, Madeline and Miles Regnier, and Jackson Harnapp. Ginny also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to ElderCare of Boston and the wonderful aides who cared for Ginny so lovingly during the last two years. Gratitude and thanks also go to the staff of Orchard Hill in Sudbury and Wayside Hospice in Wayland.

A memorial service was to be held at the Wellesley Congregational Church (the “Village Church”), 2 Central St., Wellesley, Wednesday, February 9, at 11:00 am.
