Leona S. Haulenbeek

Leona S. Haulenbeek, 86, resident of Peterborough, NH, died March 21, 2011 at Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough.

She was born in Trenton, NJ on April 4, 1924, a daughter of William H. and Olive (Fine) Schulte. She graduated from Miss Fine’s School in Princeton, NJ and attended Briarcliff Junior College.

While living in New Jersey, she was a hospital volunteer and drove ambulances at Fort Dix for the American Red Cross. She was a member of American Women’s Volunteer Services, Junior League in Morristown, Nipmugs and the Questers.

A homemaker for most of her life, she especially loved spending time with her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition, she enjoyed needlepoint, gardening and playing tennis.

Mrs. Haulenbeek was a member of The Church of Our Saviour, Milford.

She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Haulenbeek.

Family members include a son, William H. Haulenbeek of Burlington, VT, and a daughter, Leslie H. LaGrenade of Milford, NH; two grandchildren, Morgan and Benjamin Haulenbeek, both of VT; a sister, Olive Brown of Lawrenceville, NJ; several nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at 12:00 noon in The Church of Our Saviour, 10 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will be in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Church of Our Saviour, P.O. Box 237, Milford, NH 03055 or the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.
