Kaarlo W. Hill

Kaarlo W. Hill, 87, resident of Amherst, NH, died April 12, 2011, at his daughter’s home in Milford, from complications of heart failure.

Kaarlo was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 30, 1923, a son of the late Matti and Hilja (Oja) Hill. Kaarlo grew up in Newbury, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Storekeeper Second Class V6 USNR SV on the USS General G.O. Squier (AP-130).

Mr. Hill made his home in Amherst for 43 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked at J.C. Penney, Holly Hill Construction, K.M. Construction & M.E. O’Brien & Sons.

He enjoyed working on his home and puttering in the yard with his Kubota tractor.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Mildred S. Hill, who died in 2010 and their son, Jeffrey B. Hill, who died in 2005.

Family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Thomas McClintick; and one grandchild, Luke McClintick, all of Milford.

Funeral services are private. Burial will be in Amherst, NH at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Living at Home Senior Care, 10 Northern Blvd., Unit 18, Amherst, NH 03031 and will be applied to an education fund for the nurse’s aid program.
