William H. Filter

William H. Filter, 75, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died June 1, 2011 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH.

He was born in New York, NY on July 6, 1935, a son of Gustav and Caroline (Herman) Filter.

Mr. Filter was raised and educated in Pearl River, New York. He graduated from Pearl River High School, Class of 1953 and Alfred State College, Alfred, NY, Class of 1957, with a degree in business.

He was employed as a sales representative for Murski Breeding Sales.

Mr. Filter was an avid fisherman and past president of the Nashua Fly Casting Association. For many years, he organized and conducted youth fishing derbies for various children’s groups. In addition, he enjoyed the outdoors and nature, especially gardening, feeding and watching birds.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and was honorably discharged in 1960.

Family members include his wife of 53 years, Audrey (Jacobs) Filter of Amherst, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and David Hutchinson of Northfield, NH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Janice Filter of Sanbornton, NH, Jay and Kelly Filter of Weare, NH; seven grandchildren; a brother, Gustav Filter of St. George, UT; several nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 6th at 2:00 pm in CrossWay Church, 503 Main Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH.
