Robert Clayton Carr

Mont Vernon, N.H. – Robert C. “Bobby” Carr, 76, of Mont Vernon, N.H. died July 8, 2011 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H. after an extended illness.

Bob was born March 5, 1935 in Billerica, MA. A son of the late Joseph and Jesse (Coy) Carr. He was raised in Billerica and went to Howe High School.

After getting out of school he joined the U.S. Army Second Division and served in Korea. Upon returning home he started his own business as a cement finisher, which he did for over 45 years.

He loved the sport of boxing which he did in Korea and was Silver Mittens Champ at home. He became a licensed trainer out of the West End Gym in Lowell, so he could train his son Patrick for the Junior Olympics and his grandson Ralph who became 2 time Silver Mittens Champ. He left Billerica in 1968 and became a resident of Mont Vernon, N.H.

He was predeceased by his son Patrick and his brother Joe. His survivors are his wife Pauline (Harrington) of 54 years, his daughter Colleen M. Carr of Mont Vernon. Bob is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ralph W. Porter III of Lyndeborough, N.H., Erin K. Porter of Mont Vernon, N.H., Brian R. and Jesse P. Carr both of Peterborough, N.H.

Services will be private. Robert will be buried at Boscawen, N.H. Veterans Cemetery.
