Dorothy Eleanor Simms, 90, of Amherst, NH died October 14, 2011, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on October 10, 1921 to Geraldine and Cedric Massie of Natick, MA. She married George P. Simms on August 6, 1942 and raised her family of seven in Wellesley, MA before moving to Lyndeborough, NH in 1971 to the home her husband built on Richardson Road. She was employed at PVA/EPVA in Wilton, NH, until her retirement at 80 years old. She moved to Parkhurst Place in Amherst, NH in 2002, where she participated in many activities and tended to her garden. Dorothy worshiped at the Sacred Heart Parish in Wilton where she played the organ and sang in the choir. She loved to garden, knit, read, and play the piano to the enjoyment of many. She looked forward to the evening gatherings in the library with her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Kathleen M. Fraser. She is survived by her four sons, Paul K. Simms, Phillip C. Simms, Kevin R. Simms, and David F. Simms; her two daughters, Jo-Ann S. Fogg and Christine T. Greene; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Fogg, Jeffery Simms, Jonathan Simms, Brendan Simms, Stasia Fogg, Cary Simms, Laura Greene and Jenna Greene; and four great grandchildren, Joshua Simms, Zachary Simms, Liza Fogg, and the newest arrival, Cecilia Anne Garcia.

Friends are warmly invited to calling hours from 3 PM-7 PM on Tuesday October 18, 2011. Funeral services will be on Wednesday October 19, 2011 at 11:00AM in the Sacred Heart Church, Wilton, NH. A graveside service will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wilton, NH. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Susan G.
