Elfriede H. Sipple

Elfriede H. Sipple, 92, died Thursday morning at the Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, NH.

She was born in Munster/Westfalen, Germany on 24 October 1919. Her parents were the late Karl Oswald Winkler and Johanne Emma Mangl. She was married to her husband, the late David I. Sipple, for 46 years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anneliese Bussmann, of Germany.

She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working her word search books and she loved to crochet blankets for her grandchildren. Elfriede enjoyed gardening and her crafts of bead dolls and walking the beach picking up sea shells for crafts that she made. She also loved traveling back to Germany to visit her family whenever she could.

She is survived by 2 sons, Uwe E. May and his wife, Debbie of Jacksonville, FL and Henry Sipple and his wife, Betty Ann Sipple of Lawrence, KS. She has 5 grandchildren, Patrick J. (Cynthia) Sipple of Leavenworth, KS, Craig F. (Karen) Sipple of Upland, CA, Philip A. (Leah) Sipple of Kansas City, MO, Dale L. (Molly) Sipple of Ft. Riley, KS, and Eric E. May of Jacksonville, FL. She has 12 great-grandchildren, Brand V. Sipple, Zachary C. Sipple, Sara Ann Engels, Aaron J. Sipple, Natasha and Eric Killinger of Leavenworth, KS; Camille E. Sipple and Cameron B. Sipple of Upland CA; Kevin A. Sipple of Des Moines WA, Austin, Kaile Moran of Kansas City, MO., and Parker W. Sipple of Ft. Riley, KS. She is also survived by her nieces, Barbel Schlattmann and Rosemarie Bollmann, of Germany and her nephews, Hans Otto Bussmann and Wolfgang Bussmann, of Germany. A sister-in-law, Joy Cunningham, of Harrison, OH along with her nieces, Connie Bryant and Gwen Burwinkel, and nephew, Brian Cunningham of VA.

A Memorial service will be held Tuesday morning, March 20, 2012 at Eleven O’Clock in the Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Shawn M. Therrien officiating.

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 30th at 11:30 AM in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to National Association of Uniformed Service, 5535 Hempsted Way, Springfield, VA 22151, or to American Legion Auxiliary, Dorsey-liberty post 14, 3408 w 6th St, Lawrence, KS 66049.
