Shawn McDonald Quinn

MILFORD – Shawn McDonald Quinn, 55, long time resident of Milford, NH, died peacefully at her home on September 11, 2018, surrounded by family.

She was born in Providence, RI on December 15, 1962, daughter of John T. and Doris M. (Leedham) McDonald.

Shawn was raised and educated in Milford and graduated from Milford Area Senior High School, Class of 1980. She then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she proudly served for 6 years stationed in Germany and Texas. Shawn left the Army to start a family. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.

Shawn loved children and drove a school bus for the Milford School System while raising her family. She also volunteered for The Cub Scouts and The Milford Lioness Club.

Shawn had many hobbies. She loved bowling, remodeling (mostly demolition), gardening, golfing, attending music festivals, skiing and hiking. Starting in 2016, she was half way through accomplishing her goal of hiking New Hampshire’s 48 4,000 footers. She also participated in “Flags on the 48” to honor the victims of 9/11.

She was predeceased by a sister, Kelly McDonald Ost.

Family members include her step mother, Linda (McReavy) McDonald of Greenville, NH; her husband, Michael Quinn of Milford, NH; two sons, Erin Quinn of Milford, NH, Kyle Quinn of Lynn, MA; three brothers, John McDonald and his wife, Mary of Cumberland, ME, Scott McDonald and his wife, Valerie of Bedford NH, and Justin McDonald, and his wife, Carole of Boscawen, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours are on Tuesday, September 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a time for sharing and military honors, in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.
