Elizabeth Dorette Stabler

Elizabeth Dorette Stabler, 32, of Hollis, NH, and Tucson, AZ, passed away during the week of November 13, 2014, in Tucson, AZ. The cause was an apparent heroin overdose.

She was born on December 1, 1981, in Nashua, NH, the daughter of Sarah Chandler Stabler and George Merritt Stabler, both now deceased. She grew up in Hollis, NH, where she attended public schools. She spent a year and one-half at Bennington College in VT and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, in 2009.

She was a young woman of many gifts and boundless promise: an accomplished artist, baker, musician, horticulturist, and a friend to and caretaker of animals.

She leaves a loving family – her brother, Benjamin Stabler; an aunt and uncle, Janet Brown and Atty. Kenneth M. Brown, of Hollis; aunt and uncle Elizabeth Stabler and Robert Ruggiero of Middlebury, VT; aunt Mary Stabler; and several cousins, including Matthew Brown and his wife, Natasha, of Milford, and Jennifer Brown, of Hollis. Elizabeth also left many friends around the country.

A memorial gathering was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Nashua, NH, on Saturday, December 13, at noon. Gifts in her memory may be made to an animal rescue outfit or not-for-profit drug treatment center of your choice.
