Robert W. Bourassa Sr.

Brookline, NH – Robert W. Bourassa Sr., 82, of 37 South Main Street, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH.

Mr. Bourassa was born in Worcester, July 25, 1932, one of seven children born to Albert and Dora Bourassa and resided in Worcester, Berlin and Clinton, Massachusetts before moving to Brookline, NH nearly forty years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Lucey) Bourassa; six sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Sandra Bourassa Jr. of Boylston, MA, Neal J. and Gail Bourassa of Pocahontas, Iowa, James A. and Goldie Bourassa, Paul V. and Michelle Bourassa all of Brookline, Joseph F. and Denise Bourassa of Hebron, CT, and Christopher J. and Angela Bourassa of Manchester, NH; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon A. and Robert Quinn, Judith M. and Walter Kowalik, all of Brookline, and Mary Ellen Bourassa and her husband, Michael Shumsky of Hudson, NH; a sister, Claire Spillane of Worcester; eighteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Over the last 40 years, Mr. Bourassa was a custom home builder, realtor and developer. He and his wife founded and operated Bourassa Real Estate in Brookline. He retired in 2005.

In 1987 he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rebecca M. Kowalik of Brookline, NH. He was the brother of the late Henry Bourassa, Albert Bourassa, Ernest Bourassa, Leo “Pete” Bourassa and Doris Vigeant.

In recent years, Mr. Bourassa was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Townsend, MA and a member of the Knights of Columbus there. He has always been active in his church communities, serving as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Infant Jesus of Prague Chapel in Brookline, NH, St. Joseph The Good Provider Church in Berlin, MA and St. Joseph Church in Auburn, MA.

He served as the Town of Brookline Building Inspector and was a former member of the Berlin Lions Club. He enjoyed working in his garden, working with wood, golfing and playing bridge with Elizabeth, and spending time with his large, close family.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School Street, Townsend, MA.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, NH.
