KNIGHTDALE, NC – Master Sergeant Ronald A. Robbins, USMC (Ret.), formerly of New Hampshire but most recently from Knightdale, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, after a period of declining health.

Born in Nashua, NH, on February 8, 1936, he was the son of Robert A. and Mabel D. (Salisbury) Robbins.

Ron was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served for 20 years. During his time in the Marines, he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars and earned various awards. After his retirement from the USMC, Ron worked at Calcomp in California. After retirement from Calcomp, Ron relocated with his wife to North Carolina, where they have made their home for the past 12 years. He enjoyed bowling, reading, baseball and playing cards. Ron most especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers Bill, Frank, Robert (Bud) and sister, Greta Gray.

Members of his family include his wife of 59 years, Norma (Ruben) Robbins; his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Carol Robbins of North Carolina, and Rick and Bonnie Robbins of California; his daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Mark Fessenden of New Hampshire, Teri and Michael Hensen of Virginia, Tammy Cochran and Matt Wetherbee of New Hampshire, and Brenda and Nick Corbo of California. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Dick) and Peg Robbins.

Visiting hours were Monday, June 22nd, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenvale Cemetery, Greenfield, NH. Donations in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
