Norma B. (Jambard) Woods

Norma B. (Jambard) Woods (82) passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015 surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Norma was born on July 18, 1932 in Nashua, NH to the late Theodore and Adeline (Holt) Jambard. Although as a young child she lived in other parts of New England, she lived the majority of her life in Hollis, NH. She graduated from Hollis High School in 1950 and earned a B.A. in English from Rivier College in 1954.

Throughout her life, Norma did a range of things – including teaching kindergarten and running her own dog grooming shop and boarding kennel. She was a trustee of the Hollis Social Library and was a member of the Hollis Historical Society.

Norma will be remembered for her life-long passion for learning and being open to new experiences. She loved music – playing the piano and the guitar, loved the arts – becoming a photographer and painter, loved the outdoors as an avid gardener. She was also a cross-country skier and cyclist. She loved to travel and took many trips with her husband and family. She will also be remembered for her love of animals – horses and wildlife.

However, anyone who knew Norma understood she was a dog lover. Throughout her life she was the owner of many dogs, and was always willing to take in a dog who needed a home. She was active in the Irish Setter Rescue League and had given a home to one of the first rescued greyhounds. She enjoyed training her dogs and earned several obedience titles.

She will be remembered as a good neighbor and friend – happy to do anyone a favor and to play a game of cards.

Norma is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles E. Woods, Jr.; her daughters Peggy Woods and her husband Raymond Cusson of Shutesbury, MA, Angela Woods and her fiance Alan Miner of Concord, NH; her beloved granddaughter Jillian Almeida and her husband Joseph Almeida, of Loudon, NH; her great-grandson Lucas Almeida of Loudon NH; her sisters Lorraine McShea of Hollis, NH, Carole Jambard-Sweet and her husband Douglas Jambard-Sweet of Maumee, OH; her brother Thomas Jambard and his wife Nancy Jambard of Hollis, NH; and her sister-in-law Elizabeth Woods of Hollis, NH. Norma was a loving aunt to 12 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister Claire Kecy; her brothers-law Robert McShea, Raymond Kecy, and Arthur Woods; and her nephew Timothy McShea.

As per Norma’s wishes there will be no services. Those who wish to remember Norma are asked to make a donation to the Humane Society For Greater Nashua (24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064).
