Richard Ashley Brown

Richard Ashley Brown, 82, of Hollis, passed away on December 27, 2015 at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. He was born on April 10, 1933, the son of the late Linwood Tinkham Brown and Helen Augusta (Fogg) Brown.

He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Turnor) Brown.

Richard graduated from Brockton High School in 1951 and went on to college at Northeastern University graduating in 1957. During his schooling he participated in the Army ROTC program. After ending his time in ROTC, he spent a year in Seattle at the Boeing Company. A New Englander at heart, he quickly returned east and was very proud to work at Itek in Lexington, MA for many years. After Itek, he went to work as a Mechanical Engineer for Kollsman Instruments. Later he worked at the Post Office delivering mail for Hollis.

Richard enjoyed antique cars and was very conservation-minded as he enjoyed recycling and helping out at the transfer station. He volunteered wherever he could in Hollis, volunteering at places such as the Beaver Brook Association.

Along with his wife, Elizabeth, Richard is survived by his children, Peter Turnor Brown of Hanson, MA and Bonnie Elizabeth Parsons of Sterling, VA; his grandchildren, Rachel Brown, Nathan Parsons, Natalie Parsons, and Nicholas Parsons; his sister Cynthia Bailey Brown of Brockton, MA; his uncle and aunt, David Warren Fogg of Lakeville, Ma and his aunt Marion (Fogg) Pierce of Leominster, MA; brother-in-law Philip Turnor; former son-in-law Larry Parsons; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Congregational Church of Hollis, 3 Monument Square, Hollis, NH. Family and friends were invited to attend. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Melrose Cemetery in Brockton, MA. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Beaver Brook Association at 117 Ridge Road, Hollis, NH 03049.
