Lawrence J. Leavitt

Lawrence J. Leavitt, 57, of Merrimack, NH, died early Wednesday morning, on January 6, 2016, in Bedford, NH, after a year-long courageous battle with brain cancer.

"Larry" was born in Norwood, MA. He was the son of the late Dorothy Leavitt-Hamel of Attleboro, MA and East Greenwich, RI, and the late Arthur F. Leavitt of Port Orange, FL.

He grew up in Norwood and spent many wonderful summers at his family’s summer cottage on Northwood Lake waterskiing and boating. He graduated from Foxboro High School in Foxboro, MA and was a proud Marine serving bravely in Desert Storm.

Larry had a wonderfully fun personality and enjoyed life to the fullest. His greatest joy was his children and doing all that he could for each of them. He was loved by an overwhelming amount of friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He had a lifelong passion for riding motorcycles and enjoyed golf. Larry had many businesses over the years, but truly found his calling as a financial advisor for New York Life, over the past six years.

He is survived by his son, Lawrence J. Leavitt Jr. of Bennington, NH; and his daughter Sandra A. Leavitt and her husband Ferris Evans of Topsham, ME. He was the brother of Arthur D. Leavitt of Titusville, FL, Donald W. Leavitt and his wife Maggie of Wrentham, MA and his beloved sister, Darlene Guenette and her husband John of Norton, MA. Larry was a loving cousin to Heather Norsek and her husband Steve of Norton, MA. Larry is also survived by three beautiful nieces who all adored "Uncle Larry."

Visiting hours were from 1-4 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Rivet Funeral Home 425 Daniel Webster Highway Merrimack, NH. The funeral service was held Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Rivet Funeral Home at 11:00 followed by a burial at the Last Rest Cemetery. A coalition was held immediately following at the American Legion Hall located at 43 Baboosic Lake Road Merrimack, NH with all welcome.
