Christine Fischer

Christine Fischer, 60, of Merrimack, NH, passed away on January 18, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. Chris was born in Toronto, Canada, on December 10, 1955, to Donald and the late Dorothy Morrison.

Members of her family include her husband, Mark L. Carter, of Merrimack; her two daughters and grandson, Stephanie, Valerie and Jack Fischer, residing in Montreal, Canada, her brother Don and wife Connie and their children, James, Kelsey, and Scott; her sister Lynne and husband Dwight Lyon, and their children Phillip and Courtney, all from the Toronto area.

Chris is also survived by her son, Bryce, 23, whom she lovingly declared as "her best accomplishment." She was devoted to her son and in November 2015 proudly watched him depart for Anchorage, Alaska, where he began his professional life working for the FAA as an air traffic controller.

Chris graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto in 1979. She moved to the U.S. in 1992 and enjoyed a successful career working for Skill Soft and Creative Office Pavilion. Chris loved entertaining and sharing wine with her family and friends, and she also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on the shores of Lake Huron in Kincardine, Ontario.

Chris fearlessly fought cancer for four years. She and her family are most thankful for the loving care she received from her friends at Community Hospice House, St. Joseph’s and Lahey Hospitals. Because of her amazingly positive, can-do attitude, she served as a role model for others who were facing the challenges of living with adversity. Through her example of strength and courage and her desire to help others, she was asked to teach classes at the local YMCA for other women who were recovering from breast cancer.

A Celebration of Chris’ life was held on Saturday January 23, 2016 at the Courtyard by Mariott from 2pm to 5pm in Nashua, NH. In lieu of flowers and as a way to honor and respect Chris for her fierce love of life and her amazing example of living with laughter and hope, donations may be made to Home Health & Hospice, c/o Community Hospice House, 7 Executive Park Dr, Merrimack NH 03054 .
