Joan P. Rouleau

Joan P. Rouleau, 72, of Merrimack, NH died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Boston Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Manchester, NH on Dec. 7, 1943, a daughter of the late Louis P. and Lucille (Plourde) Chouinard.

Joan was a graduate of St. Anthony High School Class of 1962. She and Freddie loved living in Merrimack after moving there in 1979.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and also worked for many years for the Merrimack School District as a paraeducator and substitute teacher.

Her family was No. 1 to her, hosting holiday dinners and football gatherings. She loved cooking and also teaching cooking to younger generations. She enjoyed trips to Virginia, her first going to see the Statler Bros. and now her daughter and her family. She loved her constant companion, Layla, her dog.

She is the widow of Alfred "Freddie" Rouleau, who died in 2011; and she is also predeceased by a brother, Richard Chouinard; a sister, Patricia Werner; a nephew, Robert Werner; and two nieces, Lee Ann Ritchotte and Deborah Brown.

Members of her family include a son, Michael Rouleau and his fiancee Adrianne Bernazzani of Merrimack; three daughters, Caryn Jones and her husband Scott of Manchester, Deann Chalifour and her husband Paul of Manchester, and Nanci Curtis and her husband Joe of Spotsylvania, VA; 10 grandchildren, Jimmy, Colleen, Eric, Nicole, Brendan, Katie, Coleman Jr., Hailey, Megan and Aubree; three great-grandchildren, Lillyana, Corrie and Chloe; a brother Ronald Chouinard of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack on Thursday, January 28 from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Rd, Merrimack, NH on Friday, January 29 at 10 AM. Burial followed in Last Rest Cemetery, Merrimack.
