Make sure federal highway dollars aren’t cut

To the Editor:

I attended the meeting at BCTV last week regarding the 10 year highway plan. Numerous people testified about why we needed Route 101 widened to alleviate the traffic backups. I agree with all of those people. The point that seemed to be missed is that the Federal Highway Commission dollars coming to New Hampshire are going to be reduced by $50 million. Without these dollars, many highway projects in New Hampshire are going to be put off, including the 101 project. The real answer is that concerned residents need to contact our Congressional delegation – congressmen Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass, and Sens. Kelly Ayotte and Jeanne Shaheen to ensure that the $50 million is not cut.
