Milford dedicates softball field to ‘Bubba’ Carson

To the Editor:

On Sept. 27 and 28, 2014 the Milford Recreation Department held the fifth Wooden Bat Tournament. This was at Keyes Memorial Park and at the newly developed Robert “Bubba” Carson Jr. Memorial Field at Kaley Park. The event was kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Bubba Field on Saturday morning followed by nine teams competing in a triple elimination tournament.

We want to be sure to thank Steve Trombly Excavation and the Milford DPW for the construction of the field and Eco Stoneworks and Medlyn Monument for the granite marker. House by the Side of the Road Flower and Garden Center generously donated plants that brightened up the ceremony.

The weekend was filled with softball games, raffles, and concessions. A big thank you to the many area businesses that donated raffle prizes including Wilton House of Pizza, Nelson’s Candies, Riverhouse Cafe, Wetherbee Plumbing and Heating, Giorgio’s Restaurant, Peeper’s Pet Supply, Payless Towing, The Garden Party, Union Street Grill, Foodee’s Pizza, Milano’s Pizza, Total Computer, LLC, Shaka’s Bar & Grill, The County Stores, Teddy’s Barbershop, Hayward’s Ice Cream, J.M. Princewell, and The Green Goddess of Clean.

We are humbled by the amazing generosity of this community and look forward to many softball games on Bubba Field at Kaley Park.
