‘Really?’

What’s next? Now, shortly after the horrific separation of immigrant children from their parents, including children under 5 years old, comes the news that the Trump administration has tried to block a resolution supporting breastfeeding at the World Health Organization. There are four decades of research supporting the health benefits of breastfeeding, for both baby and mother. But a Republican administration put corporate profits from baby formula (made by Abbott and Nestle) above the health of families. They even threatened smaller, poorer countries supporting the resolution with reduced aid. We need political leadership that cares about families, women’s health and children. Will our New Hampshire state representatives and governor support the family over profits and emphatically call the Trump administration to task? If not, we need to use our power and vote in new leadership.
