Souhegan all into the pool

Souhegan High School swimming coach James Rezzarday is ready to hit the pool this winter. With 30 swimmers making up the Souhegan roster, he’s expecting another strong season.

“We have a very good core back,” said Rezzarday, whose boys team won its first ever Division II title last season, edging runner-up St. Thomas 196-170. “This will all be about who is going to develop over the course of a season. Even though you have animal swimmers, you won’t just win with them. You win with a strong core of swimmers that earn as many places as possible for points.”

The Sabers held their first practice of the season Tuesday at Hampshire Hills in Milford. Swimming, wrestling, bowling and Division III and IV girls basketball were allowed to start tryouts and practices Monday under NHIAA guidelines.
