BASEBALL
May 2: Exeter 14,
Merrimack 4
The Merrimack offense had its second-best performance of the season. Unfortunately, Exeter had its best scoring outburst, outscoring the Tomahawks by 10. Brendan Carter was a standout for Merrimack, collecting a handful of hits offensively.
May 5: Merrimack 10, Winnacunnet 1
Evan McCormick tossed a complete game four-hitter, not allowing an earned run while striking out three as the Tomahawks improved to 2-5. Brendan Carter had three hits and four RBIs while Chad Seaver had two hits and two RBIs. Mike Conlin added two hits and an RBI.
SOFTBALL
May 1: Manchester
Central 6, Merrimack 1
Caitlin Minear carried a two-hitter into the seventh inning, but the Central bats came alive for four runs to drop Merrimack to 3-3 on the season. Anjelica Gonzalez hit a triple for the Tomahawks, while the only other hit came from Renee LeClaire.
May 2: Exeter 2,
Merrimack 1
Renee LeClaire had a standout game offensively and defensively but that wasn’t enough as Merrimack fell to Exeter.
LeClair had an RBI triple, plating teammate Brittany Camara. She also played excellent defense in center field, along with left fielder Julianne Mayville and shortstop Alexis Kapsambelis.
Caitlin Minear took the loss in the circle for Tomahawks.
May 5: Merrimack 3,
Winnacunnet 0
Catlin Minear went the distance, pitching a shutout, allowing only five hits and two walks while striking out six for the Tomahawks.
Jackson Gutekunst led the offensive with two hits and an RBI. Alexis Kapsambelis added a pair of hits, a run scored and an RBI. Brittany Camara and Renee LeClaire scored runs in the Tomahawk victory.
BOYS LACROSSE
May 2: Merrimack 11, Spaulding 8
Mac Martin led Merrimack offensively with five goals, while Chris Nowalk played great in net with 12 saves.
May 5: Bow 9,
Merrimack 6
The Merrimack boys fell back to .500 after losing a close one to Bow.
Matt Coburn and Connor Cyr led the Tomahawks with two goals apiece. Pierre Watt and John Tiano also found the back of the net for Merrimack.
Mac Martin finished with two assists while Matt Brewster also provided an assist. Trevor Lacey had a solid game defensively, helping out goalie Robby Todd, who finished the game with 11 saves.
BOYS TRACK
May 6: Merrimack 92, Bishop Guertin 52
Merrimack used individual wins from Nick Masella (100, 11.20; 300 hurdles, 41.80), Adam Floyd (200, 23.90), Blake Williams (800, 2:05.40; javelin, 134-4), Ben Francis (1,600, 4:40.00), Mitch Ripka (3,200, 10:31.50) and Chase Sweeney (long jump, 19-10) to record a 92-52 win over Bishop Guertin.
The Tomahawks also won both relays, with times of 45.0 in the 4×100 and 3:40.8 in the 4×400.
BG was led by Alex Arika with wins in the triple jump (38-10) and 400 (54.60).
The Cardinals also received firsts by Gabe Madonna (110 hurdles, 18.10), Nick Lorden (high jump, 5-8), Tom Lampognana (pole vault, 11-0), Lukas Atwood (shot put, 43-2) and Kyle Lavoie (discus, 108-8).
GIRLS LACROSSE
May 1: Merrimack 17, Goffstown 8
Merrimack got strong offensive performances from Courtney Duffy (seven goals and one assist) and Dana Mendes (four goals and one assist) as the team cruised to their third win of the season. Steph Sylvester was solid in net for the Tomahawks, making 15 saves. Other offensive standouts included; Jenny Mulligan (two goals), Julia Perry (one goal and one assist) Sam Anderson (one goal and one assist), and Tori Currie (one goal).
GIRLS TENNIS
May 2: Bishop Guertin 7, Merrimack 2
Singles winners for Bishop Guertin included No. 1 Grace Goyette (8-0), No. 2 Lauren Hayward (8-0), No. 4 Maddie Gilbertson (8-0), No. 5 Paige Kennett (8-3) and No. 6 Claire Mutty (8-0). In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Goyette and Hayward won 8-2, while the No. 2 pairing of Fallon and Gilbertson won 8-6.
Merrimack had one lone singles winner, No. 3 Zoe Lanier (8-6). In doubles, the No. 3 duo of Lianna Klinger and Rebecca Eelman won their matchup 8-5.
May 5: Derryfield 8,
Merrimack 1
The Merrimack losing streak extended to six matches. The doubles pairing of Rhianne Tallarico and Kiera Crowley had the lone win for Merrimack, 8-5. The Tomahawks duo of Casey Wright and Zoe Lanier lost a close one, 8-4.
May 6: Winnacunnet 8, Merrimack 1
Paulina Klinger recorded Merrimack’s lone win at fourth singles, as the Tomahawks dropped an 8-1 decision to the Winnacunnet Warriors at home.
Alyssa Hobbs and Katherine Bouressa played a solid game, but came up short, 8-4, in first doubles action.
BOYS TENNIS
May 2: Bishop Guertin 9, Merrimack 0
Singles winners for Bishop Guertin included No. 1 Brian Xiao (8-2), No. 2 Jason Lutcza (8-3), No. 3 Ryan Montbleau (8-1), No. 4 Rishi Yemme (8-0), No. 5 John Krapian (8-0), and No. 6 Peter Scannell (8-0).
Doubles winners included, the No. 1 duo of Xiao and Yemme (8-2), the No. 2 duo of Lutcza and Montbleau (8-2) and the No. 3 duo of Kyle Charbonneau and Scannell (8-4).
