Pitch, Hit, and Run Contest

Merrimack Youth Baseball will be hosting Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit and Run contest for all Merrimack registered baseball players age 7-14 (age as of July 17) on May 4 starting at 8 a.m. at Veterans Park in Merrimack. Participants will complete in four age brackets: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. The winners of each bracket will move on to the next round of the competition held in Manchester. Softball fundraiser

The New England Diamond Gems will be holding its golf classic on the Jungle Course at Green Meadow Golf Course in Hudson with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on May 16. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch and prizes. Contests include closest to the pin and longest drive, and there will be raffles and auctions. MIDDLE SCHOOL

NHTI holding
tournaments

NHTI will hold middle school basketball and softball tournaments on May 29-30 for interetsed teams. Each tournament will be limited to four teams and the registration fee is $125 per team with a guarantee of two games. SOFTBALL

Nashua Senior Softball

The Nashua Senior Softball League is looking for players for the 2014 season. The league is open to players of all abilities who are 60 and above. The slow-pitch league plays in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from May through September at Yudicky Fields on Route 111A in Nashua. The registration fee of $70 covers uniforms, equipment and umpiring fees for the year. Practice is going on now and will continue until the league’s regular schedule starts the second week in May. ROAD RACES

Making Tracks

For Celiacs

This 13th annual 5K event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on May 10 at Anheuser-Busch, 221 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack. Making Tracks for Celiacs is an annual fundraising event, which is organized and managed by the Center for Celiac Research (CFCR) at Mass General. The funds raised are used to increase awareness and support research as well as national and local celiac projects. Of the funds raised, 75 percent go to support research and other national initiatives and 25 percent to support local communities throughout the country. Pack Monadnock 10-Miler

This 10-mile run from Wilton to the top of Pack Monadnock in Peterborough is scheduled for 9 a.m. on May 11. This is a point-to-point race and is part of the USATF-NE Mountain Racing Series. Mother’s Day 3K

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are hosting the 3rd annual Mother’s Day 3K on May 11, at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The event will feature a classic road race, and families preferring a more leisurely pace may choose to complete the family-centered fun run/walk. The race will begin at 9 a.m. All registrants will receive one ticket to the Fisher Cats home game at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on June 8 at 1:35 p.m versus the Erie SeaWolves (AA-Detroit Tigers). Mont Vernon 5K/Fun Run

Run in memory of McKayla Geisinger and Tony Barksdale II, proceeds go to Neighbor to Neighbor-Mont Vernon, which serves residents in need of assistance (be it rent, groceries or heat), and The McKayla Project (geared toward children’s recreational and educational activities).
