BOYS LACROSSE

May 7: Merrimack 14,
Oyster River 3

Mac Martin (three goals, one assist), Matthew Coburn (one goal, three assists) and Matthew Brewster (four goals) led the Tomahawks to their fifth win of the season.

Alec Bronchuk also played well in his varsity debut, as the freshman scored two goals. Robby Todd made 14 saves in net for the Tomahawks. Playing well on defense were Thomas Perkins and Trevor Lacey.

SOFTBALL

May 7: Concord 10,
Merrimack 2

Jess Humprey went the distance allowing 10 runs on eight hits, walking three and striking out three for the Tomahawks (4-5). Anjelica Gonzalez had a good game at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Ashley Grassini had a hit and run scored, while Renee LeClaire, Alexis Kapsambelis and Savanah Zagwyn also had hits

BASEBALL

May 7: Concord 12,
Merrimack 6

Devin Gillis (two hits, two RBIs) and Mickey Gasper (two hits, three RBIs) had strong offensive games, but the Tomahawks came up on the short end against Concord.

May 8: BG 8, Merrimack 4

The Cardinals capitalized on a four-run first inning en route to a victory over Merrimack. Bishop Guertin’s Drew Sanborn had the big hit in the first inning, knocking in a pair on a triple. Later in the game, he knocked in another run following a single. Joe Soraghan started a Bishop Guertin rally in the fourth, reaching base on a beautiful bunt down the line.

Brendan Carter and Mike Conlin led the Merrimack offense with a hit and RBI apiece. Andy Williams started the game for Bishop Guertin, allowing one earned run over four innings of work. He was relieved by Owen Batchelder and Quinn DiPasquale. Kyle Lawson started the game for Merrimack and settled down after allowing four runs in the first.

May 12: Merrimack 3, Trinity 2

Mickey Gasper, Mike Conlin, and Conor Qrquhart each had a hit and an RBI as the Tomahawks won despite a good pitching performance by Trinity’s Carmen Giampetruzzi (one hit, one earned run, 10 strikeouts over five innings). Devin Gillis allowed one earned run on seven hits for Merrimack over six, while Urquhart allowed one hit with four strikeouts over 12/3 innings in relief.

May 6: BG 87,
Merrimack 49

The Cardinals used individual wins by Briana Silck (100, 12.9; 300 hurdles, 53.6), Molly McCabe (200, 26.9), Rachel Pelletier (400, 1:01.1), Danielle Poublon (800, 2:27.3), Chloe Conway (1,600, 5:30.4), Grace Linnehan (100 hurdles, 18.0), Michelle Langlois (high jump, 4-6), Amy Vegliante (pole vault, 9-0) and Carolyn Nichols (triple jump, 33-8) to lock up Tuesday’s 87-49 win over the Tomahawks.

Merrimack’s Jen Coffey had a solid day for herself, winning the shot put (321/2) and discus (96-9), while also finishing second in the javelin (97-0) behind teammate Kathryn Flynn (98-3).

Rachel Mack was the only other winner for Merrimack, leaping 14-91/4 in the long jump.

May 10: Merrimack
at Kiwanis meet

The Merrimack boys and girls teams were a part of 20 teams at the Kiwanis Freshman and Sophomore Track and Field meet. Merrimack’s Kathryn Flynn won the javelin with a throw of 106-5. The Merrimack boys 4×200 relay team placed second in a time of 1:40.2, while Chase Sweeney was third in the long jump (19-61?2). In the triple jump, Merrimack’s Noah Avery was third (34-81?2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

May 8: Winnacunnet 15, Merrimack 5

The Merrimack losing streak extended to three games after they fell to Winnacunnet. Dana Mendes led the way with a pair of goals. Callie Dwyer had a goal and an assist while teammates Amber Olson and Courtney Duffy also found the back of the net. Lauren Goodspeed had ten saves in net for the Tomahawks.

May 10: Hanover 18,
Merrimack 8

Leading the Tomahawks offensively was Dana Mendes, who tallied five goals. Sam Anderson added another goal, while Julia Perry added another two. In net, Laura Goodspeed made six saves in the loss. Merrimack’s record is now 3-7.
