Police respond to fight, DUI on Saturday

BEDFORD – The Bedford Police Department was busy early last Saturday morning with two reports of alcohol-related incidents.

Just after midnight Saturday, police responded to a disturbance inside the Gold Club on South River Road, where they found that an “intoxicated, unruly subject” had initiated a fight with another patron, police said.

The subject was identified as Christopher Ranfos, 33, of Goffstown, and was brought to the Bedford Police Station for processing on a disorderly conduct charge. He was released on personal recognizance bail with a future court date set at Merrimack District Court, police said.

Later that day, at 2:48 a.m., officers responded to the Ridgewood Center parking lot on Ridgewood Road for a report of teenagers gathered among three vehicles in the back lot. When police arrived, one vehicle remained at the parking lot with four people inside. The vehicle began driving away before being stopped by police. The responding officer smelled alcohol and noticed other indicators of alcohol consumption among the occupants.

The vehicle’s operator was identified as Ryan Melchionda, 20, of Bedford. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and transportation of alcohol, police said. A passenger, identified as Ryan Hayward, 22, of Merrimack, was arrested for prohibited sales for supplying the alcohol to the individuals. Melchionda and Hayward were processed and released on personal recognizance bail with future court dates in Merrimack District Court, police said.

Two 16-year-old females also were taken into protective custody and released to parents.
