Household Hazardous Waste Day scheduled for June

The town of Bedford will conduct a Hazardous Waste Day, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Bedford Town Garage, 19 Chubbuck Road. This is a one-day event for Bedford residents to dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste. Residents must have a valid transfer station sticker on their vehicle to participate.

Residents should not remove the waste from their vehicles. An attendant will verify if it is an acceptable waste, and if so, they will remove the items from the vehicle.

Items accepted include oil-based paint, stains, spray paints, paint thinners, pesticides, cleaning solvents and lighter fluid. This is only a partial list of acceptable items. Items that will not be accepted are asbestos, explosives (ammunition), radioactive materials and road flares.

The town reserves the right to reject any liquid, material or substance that, in the opinion of the facility manager, constitutes a serious hazard to other users of the facility, to the property of the town or to its employees. For more information, call Jerome at 472-4563.
