The Bedford Lions Club awards local scholarships

The Bedford Lions Club monthly dinner meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Weathervane Seafood Restaurant, 393 Route 101 West, Bedford.

The May 8 meeting will feature the announcement and presentation of two $1,500 tuition scholarships to the Bedford resident high school seniors who have been chosen to receive the award based upon financial need and individual merit to assist the recipients in beginning college studies.

Additionally, an award created in honor of the late Armand J. LeBlanc, long-standing member of the Bedford Lions Club, will be presented. The Armand J. LeBlanc Trade Scholarship for $2,500 is funded by the family of Armand J. LeBlanc conjointly with the Bedford Lions Club. The award is for a person who lives in the Greater Manchester area and has a career interest in the trade fields of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation or air conditioning.

The meeting marks the 42nd annual Bedford Lions Club Memorial Scholarship Program, which has benefited 85 Bedford students.
