Rep. Sanborn resigns to move to Bedford

House Speaker William O’Brien, R-Mont Vernon, and House Majority Leader Pete Silva, R-Nashua, offered the following comments in response to the resignation of Rep. Laurie Sanborn, R-Henniker, the assistant deputy majority leader. Sanborn resigned because she has moved out of her district into Bedford. Her husband, Sen. Andy Sanborn, also has resigned.

“Rep. Laurie Sanborn has been a tremendous advocate for creating a pro-business environment here in New Hampshire,” O’Brien said. “As the co-founder of the House Business Caucus and as a small-business owner, she has done a tremendous job focusing the House’s efforts toward a pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda.

“Laurie has indicated to me that she expects to run for state representative in her new community, so we may see her back in the House shortly. I wish her the best of luck in the future.”

“As my assistant, Laurie did a great job bringing cohesiveness and coordination to the Republican caucus,” Silva said. “In a short period of time, she managed to do a tremendous job organizing a number of the activities in our office, and her work ethic is outstanding.

“It’s certainly a shame to lose her passion, her energy and her commitment to Republican values, and I have a hunch we might see her back in Concord soon.”
