Bedford man now sought in two bank robberies

On June 20, shortly after 10:30 a.m., Manchester Police responded to the Digital Credit Union at 369 S. Willow Street for a reported robbery. On arrival, they met with the teller, who reported that a man had entered the bank, approached the window and handed her a note demanding cash. Police said he implied he was armed with a firearm, although no gun was seen.

The man fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Investigators reviewed bank surveillance and were able to immediately identify the suspect as Joel Gordon, 30, of Bedford, a white male who is 6 feet, 4 inches; 180 pounds, with short brown hair, hazel eyes, and scar on the left side of his face.

Gordon is currently wanted on a warrant that stems from a similar robbery reported at TD Bank on South Main Street on June 11, shortly after noon

At the time of the June 20 robbery, Gordon was wearing a black T-shirt and jean shorts. A t-shirt matching that description was recovered in the roadway nearby and police said in a prepared statement believed to have been shed by Gordon during flight.

“As of this time there is still an active warrant out for the arrest” of Gordon, Lt. Maureen Tessier said June 19. “There is some information.”

When asked if the information was called in Tessier responded with “no comment.”

“The information is not leading to anything right now” Tessier said.
