BEDFORD– A head-on crash on Route 114 tied up traffic for about an hour Saturday as police from at least three communities worked to clear the scene.

The accident occurred in the area of Old Bedford Road and was reported as a “major” head-on accident by police at approximately 12:30 p.m. Bedford police issued a warning asking locals to stay away from the area if possible.

According to emergency radio communications, at least one individual was trapped in a vehicle and had to be removed using the Jaws of Life.

Route 114 re-opened both lanes of traffic by about 1:30 p.m.
