Nathan Fellman named Lurgio assistant principal

The Bedford School Board has elected Nathan Fellman to the position of assistant principal of Ross A. Lurgio Middle School.

Fellman has served as an English teacher and activities/athletics director at Lurgio since 2012 and as an eighth-grade English teacher since 2007. As part of his activities director responsibilities, he coordinated the Mt. Cardigan Environmental Education program for Lurgio eighth-graders.

Prior to that he served as an English for Speakers of Other Languages tutor for the Bedford School District since 2003. A 2001 graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Fellman earned his Master’s degree in Education from Southern NH University in 2007, a Principal’s Certification from the University of New Hampshire in 2012, and is currently enrolled in a Education Specialist Program in Educational Leadership through the University of New Hampshire.

“Mr. Fellman’s experience as athletic/activities director, combined with his deep knowledge of writing instruction, make him an ideal candidate for this position,” said Lurgio Middle School Principal Ed Joyce. “Ross A. Lurgio Middle School is fortunate to have such a bright, intelligent and capable educator join our administrative team.”

The assistant principal position is new for the Lurgio Middle School for 2013-14, and replaces the activities/athletics director position which will be eliminated. Fellman will begin his duties as assistant principal on July 1.
