BWC hosting 13th annual auction

The Bedford Women’s Club is holding its 13th annual auction, a fundraiser for scholarships and charities, from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Manchester Country Club. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Cost to attend is $35 per person. Those who wish to attend may contact Bobbe Fairman at
rpfairman@comcast.net.

The Time, Talent and Treasure Auction welcomes men for the first time. Besides bidding on donated items, participants may enjoy games such as a putting contest. The committee is gathering items for the auction. People can contribute their time, talent or money. Please contact Fairman to offer a contribution (time, talent, or treasure).

There will be donated items by local businesses such as Jonathan’s Jewelers, TEKnique and Preference. Manchester Country Club is giving a round of golf for four. A member of the Women’s Club has given gift certificates to Copper Door.

There will be donated services from members of the Bedford Police and Fire Departments.

There will be treasures such as a working German Christmas Village. Members of the Women’s Club are donating talents such as cooking, gardening, crafting, quilting, knitting, cross-stitch, entertaining and painting.

Past auctions have raised money that BWC has happily given away to scholarship recipients and to worthy charities serving the Bedford community.

"Imagine the smile on the students faces as they’re handed a check for more money than they’ve ever held before. Someone has faith in them. Someone sees the possibilities in their futures. If each one of us plays just a little part in the T&T Auction, we will succeed once again to put smiles on the faces of young people just getting started on their adventure of a life. That is simply what this is all about," said past president Maureen McIntyre in 2008.

This spring BWC is also raising funds for scholarships and charities by its "Whale of a Sale," held March 19, and its participation in the Bedford Rotary Memorial Road Race, to be held on May 21.

The Women’s Club offers college scholarships to graduating high school seniors as well as non-traditional scholarships to adult women who are Bedford, New Hampshire residents; such non-traditional candidates must be enrolled in a degree program.

To be considered, complete applications must be postmarked on or before April 1, and mailed to the Bedford Women’s Club, Attention Corresponding Secretary, P.O. Box 10015, Bedford, NH 03110.
