Meet mini maestro Kaitlin Teed

Thursday mornings are pretty quiet at the Manchester Community Music School, that is until about 10:00 am when the sound of tiny voices can be heard in the halls. Soon those tiny voices are accompanied by guitar playing and singing as Kaitlin’s Sprouting Melodies Class begins.

Beginning her musical journey at just 6 months old, Miniature Maestro Kaitlin was chosen as Musician of the Month by Music Therapist and Sprouting Melodies Instructor, Maureen Young. “Kaitlin just lights up in our Sprouting Melodies classes!” shared Young. “It has been so wonderful to see her explore and grow over the last few months, reaching a variety of developmental milestones within our music settings. What I love the most about having Kaitlin in Sprouting Melodies is how her mom carries over using the songs at home to bond with Kaitlin, as well as to help

with transitions in their day-to-day activities.”

Now 11 months old, Kaitlin’s mom shared that, “Kaitlin loves music and responds well to the class. She doesn’t like to get dressed in the mornings, but when I sing “The Hello Song” from class, she gets moving. The class has provided me with a positive way to transition her from activities. We play the Sprouting Melodies® CD in the car and she loves it. We also love Maureen, she is very sweet and good

with kids and has such a

calming voice.”

Kaitlin’s mom hopes that one day she’ll play a musical instrument, but for now they’ll enjoy singing, laughing, and playing as they travel on this journey of musical exploration together.
