Bedford Girl Scouts complete food drive

Bedford Girl Scouts completed its first community food drive on Saturday, April 6, 2019.  The week-long drive wrapped up on Saturday evening, with Girl Scouts collecting over 3,700 items to stock the Bedford Community Food Pantry. Girl Scouts was looking to support the food pantry during the traditionally “slower” time of year when donations tend to be down.  Donation boxes were set out at the Hannaford Supermarket on Jenkins Road, the Bedford Market Basket and Harvest Market during the week.  The Girl Scouts concluded the drive with a big push at Harvest Market from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m., setting up greeters at the entrance and a staffed collection table at the exit.  The items were sorted throughout the day to aid the food pantry in their stocking efforts. All the donations were then delivered to the Bedford Community Food Pantry, located in the Bedford Presbyterian Church. Bedford Girl Scouts is thankful to the community for their support, to Market Basket and Hannaford for participating, and to Harvest Market for hosting.
