Nashua Garden Club Program, The Kiss of Granite

The Nashua Garden Club invites fellow New Englanders to its November program, The Kiss of Granite, to be presented by Kevin Gardner, stone wall builder for 40 years, author of “The Granite Kiss:  Traditions and Techniques of Building New England Stone Walls” and frequent speaker across New England including at dozens of historical societies, bookstores and libraries as well as at special venues including the Canterbury Shaker Village, Castle-in-the-Clouds, Old Sturbridge Village and Boston’s Arnold Arboretum.  Learn how New England acquired its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they were built, how styles emerged and evolved and their significance to the famous New England landscape. Mr. Gardner will include a discussion of restoration tips and techniques, information about design and preservation of these beautiful objects. Listeners are encouraged to ask about specific problems or projects on their own properties.

Join Garden Club members on Wednesday November 6th at 7 PM at the First Baptist Church, 121 Manchester Street, Nashua. Learn about stone and gravity and watch Mr. Gardner build a miniature wall using tiny stones from a 5-gallon bucket while speaking! Members: Free Nonmembers: $5.00 Light refreshments will be served.
