The Hologic Genius 3D mobile coach bus made a stop at the Bedford Medical Center in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The bus is approximately the size of a large school bus: 45′ long, 8.5′ wide, and 13.5′ tall and travels the country offering tours to the public to showcase how a Genius 3D mammogram is performed as well as a glimpse of what the radiologist sees behind the screen.

Experts from Derry Imaging and Hologic were onsite to demonstrate the mammography system and explain how the Genius 3D mammogram is a major breakthrough in the early detection of breast cancer, allowing doctors to examine breast tissue layer by layer. This technology has had a significant positive impact on breast cancer screening by helping to find cancers earlier or to find cancers that can be missed with 2D mammography alone.
