BEDFORD – Volta Oil presented the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter with a check for $122,628 on Oct. 28, marking the successful close of its 15th annual Purple Pump Up campaign.

Throughout the summer, Garrett’s Family Market, Rapid Refill and Pro Clean locations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, including two locations in Merrimack, partnered with the association to raise awareness and generate critical funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

During the five-week campaign, which began June 1, customers at participating locations could contribute at the gas pump or inside the stores. The campaign received an additional boost on June 21-22, during Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, when five cents from every gallon of gas sold was donated to the association.

“For 15 years, Purple Pump Up has shown us the incredible impact that can happen when a business and its community come together for a cause,” said Ginny Hanbridge, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter. “We are so grateful to Volta Oil and its customers for their generosity and continued commitment. Their support helps us bring critical resources to families today while investing in research that can change the future.”

Purple Pump Up is one of New England’s largest cause-marketing campaigns benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. Since its launch, the campaign has raised $1.7 million to the Association’s efforts to advance research, provide care and support services, and promote brain health and risk reduction.

“I would like to thank our store associates for all the effort they put in to make this year’s Purple Pump Up a success,” said James Garrett, chairman of Volta Oil. “We are also grateful for our loyal customers who, year after year, demonstrate their generosity and help us in our fight for a world without Alzheimer’s.”

Garrett also acknowledged Volta Oil’s trade partner sponsors.

“Without the sponsors, our campaign would not be such a great success,” he said.

Platinum sponsors who supported this year’s Purple Pump Up campaign include Coca-Cola, J. Polep Distribution, the Kelliher Corbett Group at Morgan Stanley, Pepsi and Polar.

Volta Oil matched customer donations up to $40,000, amplifying the impact of contributions made during the campaign.
