Former Milford man killed in crash
MILFORD – A former Milford resident died after crashing head on into a tree early Sunday morning on North River Road.
Ryan Wilmot, 24, of Manchester, died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, according to Milford police.
Wilmot was traveling west early Sunday morning in a 2002 BMW four-door sedan when the vehicle crossed the roadway and struck a tree head-on, a short distance beyond the Milford Transfer Station.
Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to the scene of the single-vehicle accident at 12:52 a.m.
Wilmot was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. He was later transported by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries later in the day, according to police.
Wilmot graduated from Milford High School in 2005 and friends built an informal memorial at the tree with about a dozen bouquets of flowers and other items, including a pair of boots hanging from a branch that are inscribed with words of love.
The Milford Police Department’s Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
Milford Police Chief Fred Douglas said the cause of the crash is unknown at this time and it was not known if he was wearing a seat belt.
Anyone with information related to the accident is asked to call Sgt. Kevin Furlong at the Milford Police Department at 249-0630.
