SAU 39 superintendent releases letter regarding Ingram’s resignation

NASHUA – Following the abrupt resignation of Souhegan High School Principal Jon Ingram, the Superintendent of the Souhegan school district sent a letter to parents announcing he would serve as the acting principal until the position is filled.

“Expect consistent, up-to-date communication over the coming weeks as we develop a process to hire the next principal of Souhegan Cooperative High School,” SAU 39 Superintendent Peter Warburton said in a letter dated July 8.

Ingram resigned from his post on July 2. His resignation was approved by the Souhegan Cooperative School Board that night at a special meeting.

SCSB Chair Mary Lou Mullens said she was not sure how long Ingram had been considering leaving the district, but that his resignation letter stated he wanted to pursue other opportunities and further his education.

Warburton’s public letter echoed these statements. Online, however, rumors of what may have led to Ingram’s resignation continued to swirl.

Warburton said he would serve as acting principal while working with the school board, high school administrators, and students and community members to find a new Souhegan principal.

He said the school system’s website, Facebook page, and individual school sites would be kept updated throughout the process.

Ingram was named Souhegan principal in April 2010, taking over for interim principal Jim Bosman and was hired after an exhaustive two year search.

Then-SAU 39 superintendent Mary Jennings praised Ingram as someone who “embodies the leadership qualities we look for in a principal.”

The Souhegan Cooperative School Board at its April 15, 2010, meeting approved by a 7-0 vote the search committee’s recommendation of Ingram. He edged out fellow finalist Gregg Palmer of Searsport, Maine.

Ingram, who at the time lived in Bennington with his wife, Kristen, and two sons, now ages 9 and 7, came to Souhegan after two years as principal of Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative High School. Ingram called his arrival at Souhegan as “a great match.”

“As an educational leader, you want a (position) that will match your philosophies, and this school, its teachers and students, embody my philosophies,” he said.

Before Wilton-
Lyndbrorough, Ingram was executive director of Loft Educational Partners, a Dublin-based consulting group for educational training. Earlier, he served as principal at Hillsboro-Deering High School; as principal and athletic director at Con-Val Regional High School in Peterborough; and as social studies teacher and AD at Provincetown (Mass.) High School.
