Wilton Old Home Days names parade marshals

WILTON – The three men selected at this year’s Grand Marshals of the Old Home Days represent a lot of town history.

Charles McGettigan, Jr., at 82, the youngest of the three, is a native. “Born,” he said, “about 500 feet from where I live now.”

He served the town in many capacities including selectman, road agent, water and sewer commissioner.

Allan “Rollie” Jowders, 84, is also a native. He worked for many years for Wilton Telephone Company.

Stanley Young, 84, said he moved to town when he was seven. “It was the depression and we moved in with my grandparents,” he said.

After his retirement he served as a Trustee of the Library and as a member of the Heritage Commission.

All three are graduates of the former Wilton High School.
