Town official hurt in accident

WILTON – A Temple town official is recovering from serious injuries after a motorcycle crash on Route 101 on Monday, Aug. 8.

Wilton police say witnesses reported the 1994 Honda motorcycle driven by David Martz, 66, of Temple, collided with a red sedan and that the sedan’s driver left the scene.

According to the Monadnock Ledger Transcript, Martz was heading east, waiting for a vehicle to turn left onto Old County Farm Road, but was unable to stop and slid off the road and hit the embankment. Martz was ejected from the motorcycle and landed 15 feet away.

Martz was conscious and airlifted by a helicopter that landed at the Monadnock Water Co. andtook him to a Boston area hospital. Police say he is expected to recover.

Martz is on the Temple Zoning Board of Adjustment and is a Temple representative to the ConVal School Board.

Police are investigating.
